Alfa Laval CM Condition Monitor
Working Principles
The Alfa Laval CM utilizes a 3-axis accelerometer and an internal temperature sensor to collect and store up to three months of data in its onboard memory. Additionally, a Bluetooth antenna allows it to connect to an iOS or Android mobile device, where the data is presented in an intuitive and user-friendly format via an Alfa Laval-supplied application for condition monitoring.
When the monitor detects vibration, it activates, starts the running hours counter, and monitors the tri-axial vibration and internal temperature of the unit at user-defined intervals. This information is sent via Bluetooth to a mobile device running the application if it is within 20 meters of the condition monitor.
Users can then use the app to review vibration data displayed in Fast Fourier Transform (FFT) format to compare current trends against original benchmark values. In the event of a failure, this data can potentially be used for system root cause analysis.
Additionally, the application displays battery status, historical data for vibration and internal temperature, total running hours, and information about the monitored unit.
Setting up the device is a simple process guided by the app.
